Is Egyptian Mau fur a different texture than that of your average cat?

Its a breed characteristic. My Ocicat has very silky fur too and very little shedding (about as much as a Cornish Rex!). They do shed out a little in the spring. Once a week combing will take care of any loose fur during that time.
