Feelings for this guy ..how do I resolve this torture?

I'm a woman and I have feelings for my guy friend. Ok we dont know each other that well and there was always this chemistry and bit of flirting. We crossed the line recently (but didnt sleep with each other just kisses etc) on a visit..we live in different states. First contact after was a bit awkward...I think we were a bit 'shocked' . I wanted to meet up with he kind of avoided the qn. Then he contacted me and we chatted but not about our night together. Also, he seems a bit reticent with me or holding back almost as if testing his own and my feelings. Its so difficult for me to broach this question. What will I do Im in torture? Anyone whos been through this, please help me. Men in particular, how do you feel after this has happened? Something important, he's not the type who comes out with his feelings easily and would not want to hurt someone.
