I want to start an online store, and have some ideas but don't know how to purchase products.?

How do you purchase wholesale w/o dealing with all the web middlemen companies. I'm looking on how to get good product for a start up web store I'm looking to develop. Seems like online there are a zillion websites with psuedo companies trying to sell you their services, ie website, wholesalers, etc. etc...
